Class 1/3/18

We talked about Buddhism and Judaism. Something was a little odd was that Judaism is the 9th most popular religion but it is the last one that we are studying. There are other Chinese religions that are more popular but we are not studying those. I've only ever learned about Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Judaism. We learned the Mr. Schick was once a sort of buddhist himself. He went to Buddhist's temples during this phase in his life. Caitlin Mclauchin and I are interested in Buddhism. I think we should include elements of this religion in our own Christian beliefs. It is mainly a way of life about focusing on things in life that really matter, not materialistic things. There was an exercise that we talked about where people are given a single raisin. You must observe the raisin and feel it before you can even put it in your mouth. Then, you have to put the raisin in your mouth and think about what that feels like. Then, you can bite the raisin, slowly, and focus on that feeling. It is an interesting way to think about how fast we take things in life. If we slow down, we can appreciate things for what they really are.
